£1k ish build to replace aging sandybridge rig.

I am looking to replace my rig in January with a more up to date setup, my current spec is:

System:CPU: Intel Core i7 2600 3.4ghz
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty-M professional Z77
Memory: 16GB DDR3 corsair vengance pro @2133mhz
GPU: MSI R9 290 4GB
PSU: SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold"

The build i've quickly put together as a speculative assumption is below. Will i see a decent performance increase with games and photo/video editing? Currently the r9 290 runs far too hot for my liking and im starting to struggle to play AAA titles at 60+ fps at 1080p.. Along with the 2600 getting old regardless of its power.

Any help would be appreciated - Operating system is not needed, neither are peripherals and monitor.
