Hey guys,

After looking at the paid apps thread I have a question about 1Password. What happens if your not at your mac and want to login to a website? You cannot remember random passwords.

What happens if you need to reformat, do they have a single file with passwords in? You're a bit screw if it corrupts or anything like that.

You can sync to both for free, the iPhone application or their my1Password online service to view your passwords away from your Mac.

1Password backups everyday in a single file :)

Plus 1Password saves its stuff within your keychain. If you have mobileme then I believe that keychains are synced to the cloud.

I'm logging onto OcUK forums at work with a complex password. I just opened the 1Password app on my iPhone which is synced to 1Password on my Mac and used the password it showed me :)

I've been trying this out all morning. Haven't really needed it so far. I think random password generator will come in the most use and I'll change all my passwords if I decide to buy it.

However, Firefox feels really slow with this addon. I have 4GB of RAM so it's not that. E.g. scrolling will freeze, changing tabs will freeze for a few seconds. I'll keep trying but I haven't made any other changes so it has to be 1Password.

Yes, this is an epic thread revival :D

Anyway.. just wanted to say I bought 1Password over the last few days and I've been slowly chugging through changing all my online passwords.

I'm ashamed to say I used to just use the same password for every site (:o) not anymore!

I'm limiting the random password generator to 16-character randomness, but it seems a decent enough length and most sites are limited to 16 characters anyway (in my experience).

Only thing I will say is I changed my iTunes account password, and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to insert the password without copying and pasting from the 1Password app (no biggie), but it's an extra step.

Loving the "Go & Fill Login" in Safari. Best purchase I've made in a while.

I have 1Password from when it was free as a promotion, but I've never used it. May have to look into it as it seems like a good idea.

I wouldn't be without it, it's absolutely essential as far as I'm concerned from a security point of view.

All my passwords everywhere are now random strings, lower and upper case letters, numbers and symbols. Most are 16 characters, some go up to over 20.

Well just spent the past couple of hours setting it all up. All websites are using their own password now, each 20 characters (some 16 because there was limits). Seems a great idea :)

Which iPhone app do you use Feek, the normal or Pro one?

I've got the 1Password Pro app :)

Just a note, I use Dropbox to sync the Agile keychain between Macs (only have 1 but it's for future use!). It also gives me anywhere access to passwords where using the iPhone is a pain e.g. I use it to copy passwords on my work PC.

Just browse to the Agile keychain .html on the Dropbox and open it with a web browser to open the interface.

I've also got the 1Password Pro app on my iPhone and I use Dropbox to sync between my Macs so I've got access to my passwords on all machines and through the Dropbox front end.

I did some calculations and using a 16 character password gave an obscenely high number of variations that would take many many many hundreds of years to get through so I didn't don't use more than 16 except for places where I really consider my security to be absolute, ie here!

The question is, what's ur password to access 1Password? ;)

It's 14 characters containing upper and lower case letters, a symbol and two numbers. It's pretty secure :p

i like it, but would prefer a proper web-solution rather than dropbox (which is blocked at work)

also annoying it doesn't work with chrome yet.

My 1password trial has run out. I'll be buying it though. Very useful. I also have 1password Pro on the iPhone, can wait to see that on the iPad (It's a universal app)

Sorry I am not understanding this, but while on your mac. Even if you clear your Safari cache, 1Password will still remember the passwords?

Also, what about Banks. some use a security number, and then 3 characters of a password, does 1Password work with those instances?

Sorry but I've never fully understood the program, and I believe I have a full license too! :o

Not any more they use their own version of keychain now which can still synch however.

If you do reset Safari then you have to log back in.. it won't keep you logged in regardless (security risk!) it's more a way of logging in using a shortcut.

1Password installs a small "1P" icon next to the home button in Safari/Firefox etc, you click that and it reveals a load of options.

For personal information you can create a profile, and then when a site requires your name, age, address, post code etc etc you simply click the "1P" button and select "Fill Personal" and it will auto fill the fields. Same with bank accounts and card numbers.

If you login to a site 1Password hasn't seen before you're asked to save the login with a popup. You can choose to manually captcha logins, although sites with alternating fields require a bit more work, although they work great :D

All my passwords are 16 characters including 2 numbers and 2 symbols - a "Fantastic" rating :)

Probably a stupid question, but is all the data on the 1Password server, bearing in mind I know nothing about encryption etc, encrypted? As in if someone say hacked their server, I assume they would be faced with nothing more than encrypted data that they would then need your primary password/key to decrypt/view? So the passwords to the saved sites are pretty damn secure no matter what? Obviously not taking into account keyloggers etc.
