I’m building a OC with my son. He plays games and also is getting into a bit of 3d printing so instead of buying a pre-built we decided to build one so he would learn about how pcs work etc.
we are building up the components.
We currently have:
Vida Sirocco ATX case
DeepCool DQ850-MV2L power supply
Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 mobo
AMD Ryzen 7 9700x CPU

I’m looking for some advice on ram and a solid state drive. He’s buying these himself so we are looking for something good, reliable and good value.
Would 2-4Tb hard drive (around 100-150£) be sufficient and if so what would people recommend.
RAM - I’m a bit confused about RAM speeds and the differences, I don’t want to get something which out set up can’t utilise or benefit from.
We are in the uk, using small independent computer shops to get the components. Thanks in advance

We’ve gone with the Arctic Freezer III 240.
Is Phantom Viper Venom 6000mhz CL30 ok. It’s within budget. And has the advantage (in my son’s view) of having rgb. I know that splits opinion in computing circles but he wants a bit of bling
Thank you all for the advice and suggestions, much appreciated.

I recently bought one of these and would recommend it purely for the extra longevity (2000TBW), although it also represents good value.

As for RAM I'd also echo 32GB of 6000MHz CL30 if within budget, for a good balance of price/performance.
thanks, Kingston fury it is. We’ll get that through the website as it’s the best deal we’ve seen.
