my 80 Maxtor ide ATA/133 harddrive has busted i think

It says its in bios and windows, but says hdd is currupt and is inaccesable when i try to get into it

it had all my music and movies on it, i phoned up a company i found thru google, gave em a ring and they said it would cost £300+!!

is their any way thats a little cheaper to get it all back? without downloading of cause.

I think there might be a prog thats called ntfs recovery or something along those lines but i assume you might need to plug the maxtor in as a secondry drive.

check the diagnostic tools in the sticky and if in warranty at least you can have your drive back if completely dead

??

Without downloading...?

For a cheap price - Easy Recovery Pro is a fantastic tool.
Got 1.5GB of data from a drive that was clicking/clunking/clattering all the time.

Recovered files from all sorts of states.

There are other ones like GetDataBack which is also good.
(I prefer the ease of use of ERP)
