1st Opty 2.97GHz @ stock volt!

Yep, prime stable after 14hrs. Even the RAM is 3D stable, which i'm suprised about after hearing so many horror stories about the Mushkin and 3D stability. :D

Had to send my Ballistix back today, they died the poor things :( Apparently they will have stock to replace them with so i'll be getting some new 'uns. Strangely, i heard a rumour that Crucial may have solved the problem with the ICs and would be shipping this fixed RAM soon. Anyone else heard this or have more info? Anyway, when i get my new modules i'll throw them in and see how they get on with this Opty.

1M Superpi isn't a test of stability.
....

Anyone here not already know this?

lol too right, its a 30 second test, you need atleast 4hrs testing.

with prime you need a lot longer...... :p

when testing my pc, it would crash after 10 minutes playing a gta:sa, yet prime would take 11 hours to fail at the same settings. a simple vcore increase sorted it so i know how slow prime can be to detect instability. :)

Maybe you have the patience to test for 11hrs but I bought my PC to play games, not run tests all day:p

I have ran Prime95 for 10hrs before but only cos I fell asleep:o

I've found if it can run CoD2 for an hour its not gonna crash, not the most accurate/overclockers preferred way but it works for me.

mines currently at 2.7 on stock volts. when I get some pc4000 memory ill let you know what I get too. good overclock

Im with Tim on this one, lets be right - not all of us play games for 12hours + in one sitting, its a right pain in the ass waiting for it.

I prefer to run OCCT as a stability test - i usually find if it passes that then it's ok.

Most people have jobs so it's not a case of sitting there watching. :p

Just set it going before you go to school/college/work.

yeah gotta admit, i also like to use OCCT is very good at testing stability and very sensitive. i find if it fails that then it will fail prime 2. :D

seems like it will be a nice chip, but get us some prolonged results :o

all well and good benching with 1mb spi but it doesnt mean much, something along the lines of 32mb spi and prime 95 (large FFT's), run prime for several hours etc (about 8 is a nice number)

not saying they are the ultimate in stress test/stability tools but they certainly do a better job for prolonged stability than 1mb spi

and i hope ya get that fully stable matey without much extra v's!

edit: just read the rest of the thread, habit of reading OP and replying, wasnt intending on adding to any flame
