1st SSD

So after ordering my first SSD is there anything particular I need to prepare? Or Procedures Some things i have picked up on:

Update Mobo BIOS to latest version
Enable AHCI in the BIOS when using an SSD for the OS HD
Don't have other hard drives plugged in when first installing
Run Win 7 Experience So it switches TRIM on and Defrag off
Don't Fill more than 80% (why is this??)

Oh and in future to erase a SSD you use some special software what was it called?

The 80% if I remember it was to partition the drive so 80% is usable, this makes the drive last longer apparantly.

pointless, they already have a reserved area to extend the life.
