Hey guys

As some of you may know ive only been a pc gamer the past 7 months or so. Gonna try my 1st mmo and have decided on world of warcraft. Any tips for these sorts of games, also I dont know anybody else that plays so will this make it tricky? wanna get mmo practice in before the old republic! :D

1. If you are married get yourself a good divorce lawyer, you'll need one !!
2. If you are single don't plan on getting yourself a GF for the next 2 years
3. Get some cream for the piles you wuill develop from sitting in your chair for 23 hours a day gridning for mats to get raid ready
4. Pre-fit a gastric band as you will pile on weight from all the pizza, coke, beer you will be ingesting whilst sat sedintary at your rig playing wow

basically thats it :)

If you are going to try one then I'd recommend DC Universe Online. It's quite a lot of fun and different, interesting PVP modes and is packed with content and there is more to be added soon.

Yeah take people's advice, and unless you are dead set on it, don't get in to them.

I am not an addictive person, but even now, I still get cravings to play SWG or Ultima.

If you are dead set, i'd avoid WoW and try something else, LOTRO or EVE maybe.

World of Warcraft is a great game, just keep it casual and you're all set.

I play about 6-8 hours a week in between everything else, it has no impact of my life like some claim.

I'd advise you wait for one of the new MMOs coming out this year. I think Rift is coming out soon and apparently it's pretty good. It is always better to start a new MMO as you're at no disadvantage in terms of servers being one side dominated, a class full server, full raiding guilds etc. - this is amplified if you're totally new to the genre. I've played lots of MMOs and I generally don't like starting one if it's older than 6 months, I also only reroll onto new servers or servers that have just had a large community shift. It's just so much better to play on a new MMO with fresh servers.

no get wow, they have made it incredibly easy for new players an the levelling process is so fast now its easy to catch up with the highest level players, its the best mmorpg for a new player.

Yes mmo's can be addictive to some people but people always way overexagerate it unless you have no self control at all you will be fine just play it casual like any normal game, most people can no problem.

yeah I can imagine, I was looking at dc universe but was gutted at some of the poor reviews it got. seems quite 50 50 in here with regards to it. Rift? ill check this out cheers. The one I really want is the old republic, bit of a starwars geek and love kotor years ago so pretty excited about it.

DCUO is ok, pretty easy for new players to the genre, if you like the sound of playing in a superhero enviroment give it a try, if you' prefer fantasy play wow, wow has a 14 day trial too :)

go for WoW, its been really revamped now its great for new players to mmo's, quick and fun levelling and a great mmo world.

just get the original thats all you need (expansions add content for level 60+ so not needed yet), i started on the ocuk guild server (defias brotherhood) and there was quite a lot of low level questers, most of them were seasoned players that were just levelling alts, but i think the ocuk guild is still accepting new members and you should have no trouble finding for people to quest with.

Original WoW is really cheap i think now?

Be careful especially if your married I was spending more and more time playing eve online. In the end I was spending more time with eve than I was with the wife. Also at work I could keep and eye on eve which was not good. Now I play games two evenings per week and and for maybe an hour after she goes to bed.

Get basic WoW for a few quid and you'll still get most of the patches that change the core game, all you'll miss out on is new end-game content and the odd extra race etc. If you're going to try it out the best time is now, they've revamped all of the 0-60 areas making the quests more enjoyable and leveling less of a grind.
