1st time watercooler need help.

Ok, a 120.1 will absolutely not be enough although it might be enough if you put a Delta on it (noisiest fan on the planet, akin to Concorde taking off!). Seriously, the radiator must be considered as a package with the intended fans as the force of the fans has a massive impact on the cooling capacity of the radiator. Do you need quiet or cool or both?

Both would be nice, but anything will be better than the stock fan, its 90 degrees for it to be inaudable, i put it up to 40% fan speed and its annoying if im in bed watching tv on my computer. That knocks the temp down to 68 degrees.

putting a delta n a thermchill rad wouldn't help tbh and well for me at least would be making the idea of water cooling pointless.
you can have great air cooling at a third of the price of water cooling if you can take the noise and there wont be a much difference in the temps fr the cpu at least.
for me watercooling is all about as quiet as possible but still with the O/C, if you w/c the gpu the rig you have becomes so much queiter

sorry ive been drinking

Thats what i will do but even with the fan at 60% its still quieter than an xbox 360. So....

But i don't overclock, one step at a time lol, i just want it so its, quiet looks good, and so i can see the look on peoples face when i tell them i have water in my computer :D

Haha, most of my mates were horrified when they saw me fitting my watercooling, took some convincing that its pretty safe.

But I agree witht the rads, get a bigger one, at least 240 and make sure its a good brand! I started off with just a single 120 rad I got given for free off my mate and it was rubbish! Added another 240 to my loop and is miles better but still need to get some good fans. The rad box is great as well, defo reccomend as it just makes mounting a rad outside the case so much easier :)

Yea, it ends up costing quite a bit more than you first expect! I was talking to my mate about maybe getting watercooling, and he said he had a few spare parts I could us which is why I went for it. Still managed to spend over £100 though, new rad, new res, new tubing, new fluid haha, all adds up!! Still need to get a northbridge block yet too!

You could save yourself a ton of money by going with a core only GPU block. Not sure how it applies to dual core crads though?

Alternatively, buy everything second hand. You dont have MM access yet though, how far away is your birthday? if you dont mind holding the cash back and becoming an active member here, there are some awesome deals in the MM.

you ask other people to buy you watercooling :p

A conversation that often goes along the lines of:

Are you sure you don't want socks ?

Yes, I'm sure

But you always need socks... What would you like instead ?

I was thinking three metres of plastic tube, 1/2 inch diameter ?

O.o

Like this see. The silver looks really cool but under ultra-violet light it glows bright blue.

Ah ha, and why would you want blue tubing ?

Silver actually. I want to cool my computer...

o.O

... with water.

O.O . These red socks look very nice dear. You look a little warm. Sit down, I'll just tidy up these dinner knives and make you nice cup of Horlicks...
