Hi Guys,

This will be my first attempt at any watercooling.

Basic spec (rest in sig):

i7 @ 4ghz
Gigabyte UD5
Corsair 800D

Will be doing my cpu first (and possibly chipset in same loop?) and later on in a 2nd loop my graphics. After much swotting and reading, heres my list.

I would be grateful if you could take a look and advise on anything that doesn't look right.

The fans I already have, but are there to ley you know what I'll be using.

Would 2m of tubing do or should I get 3 to be on the safe side?

I like the look of an XSPC Dual 750 Bay Pump Res (not listed on Overclockers)to combine the res and pump (in place of 2 in list) - Any thoughts or opinions? Would this run 2 loops?

I have the dual res you mention whuich is superb and is fine for one loop for CPU/GPU. As for dual loop, then these would normally comprise of 2x anyway so you'd really need a second pump.res.

If your going to add the GPU.. do it all in one go.. otherwise you'll have to break the loop, retest and so forth..

1/2 barbs with 7/16 tubing for tighter fit?

Yeah will go with 7/16 tubing, heve read that before.

Thanks for the advice with the XSPC res/pump.

Unsure to add the GPU's at this time, don't want to over complicate my first install with a 2nd rad.
Wouldn't be so bad if it were just 1 GPU , but I think 2 would be too much at the moment.

I presume you're not mounting the rad inside a case? It's pretty huge :p

On a side note (sorry for minor thread hijack), is the price of the Heatkiller 3.0 LC worth the performance drop over the LT/regular? i.e. how significant is the performance impact?

Save yourself £15 , use distilled water from Morrisons/Halfords, not expensive coolants. 50p/litre + £4 for some PT Nuke additive.

A PA140.3 needs 140mm fans, you've ordered 120mm fans.

3 of these would be as good 'Yate Loon 140mm - D14SM-12' @£6 each - Saves you £32 over those noiseblockers.

Fitting wise, bitspower carry a premium.
For the same price as 1 barb+1hose clip - you could get OcUK 13/10mm Screw-On Fitting Outer Thread G1/4" Compact - Black Nickel. Compression fittings are much easier to use and don't require ugly hose clips.

The money i've saved you will get a top for the pump to aid performance and give you more options for fittings.

So is the inside of an 800D!:)

Fans - yeah, mistake - Many thanks for pointing that out for me - will either get 3 140mm fans (will check inside of case to see if it will fit) or change to a 120mm fan rad

800d has triple 120mm rad/fan holes ready to go in the roof, if you wanted to use 140mm u would need to modify!

It's not as hard as you think.. The buying the most complicated part.. and you need patience.. don't expect to build this in one after noon.. Allow a few days because you'll need to run a loop test.

Here's my blog if it helps.

Thanks and GREAT blog - nice to see someone using an XSPC Dual 750 clear Bay Reservoir - I think I will go this way, seems to make more sense 2 in 1 space (all be it a double slot).

I think your're right about the buying being the most complicated part, I've a list on my desk that has evolved over a few weeks (or months!).

Thanks for the advice all - anymore is appreciated.

If your going for a dual bay res, you will need to mod the 800d also, got mine yesterday and the 5 1/4" bays have small shelves for want of a better description so that when you slide in a drive it rests on them.

Right I know what you mean, Thanks.

Think I will still go for that dual bay though.
