Hi All

I'm thinking of finally water cooling my PC and decided on EK with soft tubing

My current set up and use:

  • 3950X
  • Be Quiet Dark Rock 4 Cooler
  • Gigabyte X570 Elite
  • Palit 2080Ti Dual
  • Lian Li White O11 Dynamic XL
  • 4 x Be Quiet Shadow Wings 2 fans pulling in
  • 2 x Be Quiet Shadow Wings 2 fans pushing out
  • I might want to o/c at a later date
  • I use my PC to CPU mine whilst not using it for gaming and it sits aount 68-72C, sometimes up to 80C (CCD1&2 HWiNFO64)
  • VRM MOS temp max 51C (I'm guessing that's the MOSFETs)

I'm wondering whether to get a CPU/MOSFET cooling block or a CPU only block, the two products I'm looking at are:

  • EK-Quantum Momentum Aorus X570 Elite D-RGB Monoblock (WC-9WX-EK)
  • EK-Quantum Magnitude D-RGB AM4 (WC-9XP-EK)

The rest of the loop I'm thinking of is below, tbh not sure I have the guts to dismantle my GPU just yet.

  • EK-Quantum Kinetic TBE 200 D5 PWM D-RGB (WC-9WU-EK)
  • EK-CoolStream PE 360 (WC-488-EK)
  • EK-Duraclear Tubing 13/10 Clear 3M (WC-9DA-EK)
  • EK-CryoFuel Solid Laguna Yellow 1L Premix Watercooling Fluid - 1 Litre x2 (WC-9N0-EK)
  • EK-Vector RTX RE Ti D-RGB Graphics Card (WC-9WB-EK)
  • EK-Vector RTX RE 2080 / 2080 Ti Founders Edition Backplate - Black (WC-9ME-EK)
  • EK-STC Classic 10/13 Soft Tubing Compression Fitting - Black Nickel x8 (WC-9SC-EK)
  • EK-AF Classic Angled 90 Degree G1/4 Inch - Black Nickel x2 (WC-9SP-EK)
  • EK Filling bottle (WC-9EJ-EK)
  • EK-ATX Bridging Plug (WC-995-EK)

Is getting the CPU/MOSFET block worthwhile?
Do I need two raditors? (I used the EK online configurator which was great for a noob like me and even with a CPU/GPU it only recommended a single radiator)
Why would you choose 10/13mm soft tubing over 10/16mm?
Can I re-use my Be Quiet Shadow Wings 2 fans on the radiator?

cheers

51c on vrms is low no worries there
I would add the 2nd rad
While 1 may be ok its easier to just do 2 to begin with
Don't forget a drain point
Radiators with more than 2 ports are useful too
Don't think there's much difference 13/10mm and 16/10mm
I always use 16/10mm personally
90 degree and 45 degree fittings make sure they are rotary ones
No idea if those fans will be ok on radiator I would just try them out and see

The elite board will be fine without the motherboard block. A CPU block also means you will usually be able to reuse it if you move to another platform whilst a motherboard block will be specific for the board.

I would defo take the opportunity to add a second radiator in that case from the onset given it can easily handle it. Factor in the 2080Ti and 3950x can chuck out a decent amount of heat, more radiator capacity will allow cooler temps and / or slower fans on the pair of radiators vs single radiator to keep the same temps.

The shadow wing fans will be fine, not the best on the market, but a pair of radiators will mean its a non-issue

In regards to tubing, personal preference really.

thanks Mcnumpty2323 and Raodx-0 for your replies I may hold off on the GPU then for a bit, go for just the CPU block, then if I add a GPU block add another radiator :)
