I just put a 1TB F1 in my rig and it woun't do a full format, gets around 8-10% in and just says windows failed to format drive, but a quick format works.
any ideas why it wont do a full format ?

That's the reason I always do a full format on a new drive, quick format just maps out the MFT but doesn't test the disk. You're lucky you didn't start to use it after a quick format...

I have heard of them failing after a few months use, but better to fail from the off I suppose. Was going to replace my main drive with it, but now I think I will just use it for storage, when it gets replaced.

I have the sammy F1 1tb and it formatted perfectly from the off so i would say rma the one you have. Bit worried to hear the F1's still having problems with failing after a few months as i thought that was an initial batch and it had been sorted now. Guess i better find a way to back stuff up :(.

dont think the failing after a few months is as common as it once was , if I did I wouldent have got one my self.
I just put it down to some drives will fail, who ever makes them and F1's are selling more than most, so you hear of more of them failing.
That and if your looking to buy some thing, you look in to it, the more you look the more you see.
To many good reports not to give one ago,

Yeah like i said i thought it was something to do with an early batch at least thats the way i read it when i was looking to buy a new hdd and why i went in the end with the sammy though it was a close call between the sammy and the seagate 7200.11 drive so lucky escape already lol.

Should add that they've been bought at different times so they are all different batches for me

750gb F1 - Failed after 6mths . Not impressed.

Swapped for WD and will not be buying Samsung (HD's) in the near future.

Same here, out of 3 F1s 2 failed after a few months usage. AJ26 smart error which means a problem with the outer 10-30% of the platter.
