Hi All, I bought a 1tb WD black nvme SN770 on 13th July 2023. I inserted it into a External case Formatted it and Cloned my WD black sn750 Se 1tb with my OS onto it using Macrium Reflect.
I checked it out and it showed on my PC. Checked twice in that time. checked once in 2024 until now. Today I decided to Re-Check it out and it is NOT showing on the PC. It says- Not Initialized. When I try to initialize it it says Incorrect Function.
Any Ideas...Bought from OCUK.

I had a similar experience recently with an external 3.5" HDD when the 12V supply wasn't properly connected. So I would check the cable and enclosure before investigating the disk further.

Hi Snapshot..I done that over 8 times now. No Good. Not recognised. I get "Not Initialized" Can't initialize it as it comes up with Incorrect Function. First nvme to go wrong with me. Looks like I'll have to return it to OCUK. It has a 5 year warranty.

Well, you don't know if it is the NVMe. You said it is in an external case. First thing I would do is buy a cheap external docking station to find out. You can get one for less than £20.

Not buying any more cases. Did not know you could buy a Docking station for a NVME, how would you fit one in?? I said it was inserted into a external case. I can take it out and insert it into my Motherboard of which I will do tomorrow. If it works in there Then I know its the case..It is this one--"

Beikell M.2 NVME Enclosure, Tool-Free 10Gbps M2 SSD Enclosure USB 3.2 Gen 2 * 1 NVMe to USB Adapter for 2230/2242/2260/2280 M.2 NVMe/SATA SSD of M-Key or M+B Key with USB C to C and USB A to C Cables - If not working on Mobo It goes back to OCUK.

Yes, that's the point - to test that it's not the case that's to blame.

Hi All. Took ages to take out my Graphics card and PCIe card in order to slot the NVME in. Even harder to put back. The BIG Cooler is in the way Noctua DH-15. I did it in the end. It Works from the MOBO. Says "MyClone of Win 10"..Would I be able to start up the PC with that in Disk I: if I changed it in Bios or at Start up if the original ever goes down??? Or should I buy a USB 8GB Pen Drive and put the Clone on that..If you know a better way, Please do tell me. These external enclosures are very finiky and by all accounts are always breaking down where you slot the usb C cable in. Many Thanks I have put a heat pad on it. Would it be better to put a heatsink on it instead. Or wait to see how the Temp is after a while.

In it Strange. Nothing goes correct with me. I'm a disaster on times. Forgot to put a heat tab on that nvme. Took it back out this morning and put one on it. Found out I did it wrong Grrrrrr!! So back out to try n correct it. Putting it back onto Mobo the darn Screw fell inside. Can't find screw, not got another one. Took out the nvme and put everything else back. I then put that nvme back into its caddy and changed the connector on the end. usb-C to usb A and it ruddy worked. Took that connector off and plugged it into the USB-C on back of Tower, it Worked. NOW if my main NVME with C: OS on it Fails, will I be able to connect this nvme caddy with OS on it to start up. I hope the nvme on Mobo does not fail as it means PC Shop to take off the Noctua DH-15 in order to take out that original nvme.

I hope you found that screw if it dropped inside your case otherwise your asking for trouble.

Hi mickyflinn--No I could not find it. Is not on the Mobo so I think it fell to bottom behind PSU. I had my Lian-Li Mesh Tilted against wall instead of laying flat, so nothing would drop on Mobo. Why do they make these things so difficult to put together beats me. Must be my old age. lol Problem now is, where do I get one of those screws from to hold the nvme in place.

It's worth locating because it could cause a short, maybe not now but if you move the pc around and the screw moves youve got problems.

Yes I know it's worth locating but I can't pick up the tower and Shake it to here it rattle. So if it is on the Floor of Tower somewhere behind PSU there should be No problem.....Today I went and bought 6 Screwdrivers that says 'Magnetic' What a Load of Chinese Rubbish. None of them are Magnetic. Screws fall off them. Back to B&Q tomorrow for money back..

Thank You freddie64--I called into B&Q yesterday and bought a set of 6 screwdrivers called 'MAGNUSSON' Magnetised....AVOID them at All costs. Not Magnetised. Have to either take them back or call into the City and see if I can find a good Magnet. Some of these Chinese made stuff are pure Rubbish.

Thank You freddie64..I recently Moved to a New flat and still got around 10 boxes to empty lol. Still looking for my Samsung Tab 10.1 that is in one of the Boxes Screws Probably in one of them. I'm gradually emptying them slowly. Merry Christmas.
