thinking of getting a 1 tb for the laptop
is it ok to partition 130/850
for those time you need to reload without losing eveverthing

will be fine.

you can do this through the install stage of windows.

would give yourself maybe a bit more than 130GB for a OS drive due to windows updates etc.

maybe 200GB OS and the rest for storage. you will get 931GB usable space on a 1TB drive once formatted etc

Pretty pointless taking a 1TB drive and splitting it 800/200 to use for storage. If it's Windows youd have an easier time leaving it as 1TB.

I don't understand the comment about a reload with losing everything? If you mean an OS reinstall then I'd say to ensure you have a backup drive with your data on and don't worry about the partitions.

Never trust a spinning disk, especially in a laptop.

Not as bad, still though I'd forget the split partition and just keep a backup of important things. If an SSD goes belly up y can at least read from them (normally).
