1Tb + SATA Drives...when?

Anyone have any idea when 1Tb + SATA drives will be available?

lol, but due to using a different platter size to the 1TB drives, the 1.5TB drives will be slower.

Seagate and Hitachi have announced 1.5Tb drives based on 4*375Gb platters.

On a side note Seagate announced 500Gb 2.5" drives at the same time!

My god. What are you trying to store exactly? My 1000gig ('1tb' in my sig) is only 2/3 full and thats packed with hundreds of vids and thousands upon thousands of tunes. Not to mention all the high res pics.

Overkill much? Just buy 2 1tb's and raid them if you've got that much hd porn. pfft

Is the 500Gb still 5400RPM or have we finally got a 'big' 7200Rpm laptop drive?

Do we have a date on the 1.5Tb drives yet - they're on the Seagate site, but I can't find them on sale anywhere?
