2.1 Speakers recomendation

I know what you mean hornet. Will go round cash converters to see if there's anything interesting second hand as new is way over my budget.

In my experience they're expensive, and any good items are not much less than full retail.

Have a look on forums, people sell things as they upgrade.

A cheap T-Amp will do for now, that allows you to buy a better pair of speakers- then later on change the T-Amp.

Great will come back with questions when will find something :)

How about this?

I totally 2nd the Edifier claim, i bought the Edifier E25HD Luna Eclipse, only a 2.0 set up, but look good on a desk, loud base, and good all round,

I'll probably go for something like Klipsch R-51M + sub + amp.

EDIT: Do you think Cambridge Audio CXA60 Amplifier is any good for these speakers and sub (sub will be about 150rms)?

For active speakers, the better ones are typically bi-amped with electronic cross over and each speaker containing it's own amplifier(s). If the amplifier is on one speaker only it's typically cost cutting reasons.

If I was spending £300+ would buy Adam 5TV's then buy sub if it's required later. You will require a good source to get best from Adam 5TV's however.

The other thing to look for is the amplifier class, better active speakers tend to have A/B, where as lower cost tend to be class D.

I have Adam 5TV’s they are great, very loud, bass is Ok but as Jason says you can add a sub. Mine are connected to a Topping DAC which is fed by an iPhone, but all you need is an RCA feed.

I'm also looking at speakers, to be used for gaming and listening to music. Edifier comes up a lot but I read a lot of build quality issues? Also, I asume brands like Edifier are better than gaming pc brands?

I found my CXA60 to be quite bright sounding, which suited my B&W speakers I had at the time.

Not sure I’d use it for Klipsch. Better suited something like Musical Fidelity.
