2.2 JB Ready

Do you have to re-install all of your JB apps again?

From the blog, what does this mean 'You will also need to change the partition size to about 1000MB (type in the value or use the slider)'

Iam really eager to do it but ive only JB once to 2.1 so dont know the process of upgrading to 2.2.

All working fine here on my 3G. You do have to reinstall all your jailbroken apps, but there's a utility called AptBackup (I think) that remembers all the ones you have installed and does a one click re-install of them all once you've upgraded.

I didn't have to change my partition size, I just de-selected Installer (I don't like it anyway), but if you want to do it then it's as it says on the tin.. there's a slider that says "Root Partition Size" that you slide to 1000 :)

They have "lined out" the part about root parition size.

I just updraded my 2.1 JB phone to 2.2... then run the app and installed installer + cydia.

Why did you not choose to install installer Beepcake? :)

From the site:

Locked iPhone 3G

If you are using your iPhone with one carrier and have no interest in the possibility of an iPhone 3G unlock in the near future then just restore or upgrade to 2.2 using iTunes and use QuickPwn to Jailbreak and add Cydia and Installer.

So whats this "Root Partition Size" all about, so if you dont install intaller.app you dont need to worry about "Root Partition Size"? Is this new, wasnt any mention about this when I JB 2.1 :s

Not sure Jimmy, it doesn't mention anything in the blog. I have installed both so would be interested to hear where people have got this information from :)

Which blog mate?

I've had no problems yet as far as I can see. Installed some apps from cydia / installer earlier on...

It wasn't playing ball for me, tried several times and it got stuck at "Waiting for your device to boot in Recovery Mode" in QuickPwn every single time, reverted back to 2.1 for now.

Just read that guide, seems i've lost 500MB then.. might check.

Funny that the main Dev site didn't mention it though, I'm not convinced.

Could someone do me a favour and install sbsettings and tell me how much free space they have on "/"? I only have 60MB which seems a little low. "/var" is fine with over 3GB.

This only works with the iPhone and iPod Touch 1st Gen. [Not the 2nd Gen ipod Touch]. Also 2.2 can not be unlocked yet just jailbroke.

Can iPhone 3g 2.1 firmware be unlocked or just jailbroken?

I'd like to buy an iPhone 3g to use on my current sim which is on Three network.

Thanks
