2.5" Drive keeps turning off and then back on :/

hey

My 2.5" HDD keeps turning off and then back on when watching a film so the film stops and judders.

i have my HDD's to shut off after 20mins idle and my second 2.5" sticks to that but this one doesn't.

Anyone know of a way to stop it doing this?

try with never and see if it stays on? not an ideal solution but might work

other than that I don't know

This is the only guaranteed way to stop a drive spinning up at an inopportune moment.

What's on the drive that's behaving oddly?

Various torrents, all my Installed programs and the like

Its just annoying that even though i have now set it to an HOUR idle before spin down it will still spin up and down when it likes and interrupt a video :/

The drive will spin back up if the OS needs something on it. There's no way of preventing that.

Thats not what i ment, The drive will spin down before its hour of idle is met.
Even when i have them set to Never turn off, this one drive will spin down -.-

Does it spin down while in use? It could be a sign of the drive failing. Try reading the S.M.A.R.T. data from it.
