It's the drive which will determine how many USB ports are needed, not the enclosure. USB can only supply 2.5W per port, most 2.5" HDDs need somewhere between 2 & 3.5W hence the caddies come with a 2 port cable.
Exactly.So to expand on that, even though the caddie comes with a 2-port cable, depending on the drive and system you may get away with using a regular 1-port cable, but you have the option of using the 2-port one if needed.
