If you want to use the laptop HDD more regularly then a USB caddy like this is probably worth thinking about. Otherwise an IDE converter cable like this will allow you to connect the HDD to a desktop IDE cable.
Thanks guys, the IDE converter is exactly all I need for now. The only thing is going by the picture I can't see how it will connect to the motherboard and then to the hard drive?
Well the little connector [the male one] will plug into the 2.5" HDD, and you would use a normal IDE cable to connect the other end to an IDE port on your motherboard.
