Hi guys

Just yesterday I installed new PSU and graphics card. When I turn on the PC, I hear two beeps. 1st beep is slightly longer followed by 2nd shorter beep and computer then posts fine. I am actually typing this on the very same PC.

Mobo is GA-EP45-UD3LR and I have been using it for the past 5 years.

I looked into mobo manual it suggested for these beeps, it is either motherboard or ram issue. So I took out all four sticks of ram and then used just 1 stick for booting and it still produced the same beeps.

I hope I have not damaged anything while installing new components yesterday :(

Please any suggestions?

run memtest on the ram and see if that finds any issues.

make sure the bios is up to date as well.

if you put in your old gpu do you still get the beeps?

try a clear cmos

another thing would be to make sure all the gpu power cables are connected securely along with the 2 power cables that go to the mobo (24 pin and 4\8 pin connector)

Thanks guys for all your help :)

My old graphics card was Gigabyte Windforce 7950 and my new graphics card is OCUK Reference 970. My new PSU is Superflower Leadex 650W.

This is what I did and it is all fine now with PC only giving one beep when starting the system.

1) I cleared the CMOS battery and jumper but the results stayed the same

2) Then I installed all four ram sticks and ran Memtest 86+ Ver 5.01 and my ram successfully passed one loop of all 10 tests without any error. Attached is the screenshot. So from this perspective, ram was working all fine.

Memtest%20x86%20v5.01_zpsvjxeqezq.jpg

3) Then I took out the CMOS battery and started the system just to see if CMOS battery was causing the problem. Again same results.

4) Then I reinstalled old graphics card and surprisingly the PC only produced one beep during POST. My suspicion at this time fell on the new gfx 970. However there was nothing wrong with 970 as it produced display fine and was seated correctly with all the power cables attached.

5) My final resort was to update the Bios from F7 to latest F11. It WORKED!! and no more 2 beeps. :)

Seems the old bios had some compatibility issues with latest graphics card(s).

Cheers again for all the suggestions
