Hi all I have 2 computers, My high end gaming rig running Vista 64 and another running Windows 98 for old games that struggle on either XP or Vista.

I have been using 2 monitors as well but to save some desk space I was thinking of connecting both comps to the same monitor - obviously I wouldn't turn them both on at the same time but would the monitor still work with both digital and analogue connections plugged in?

Thanks.

Why not just get a KVM switch? dont know if they do them for USB keyboards/mice though which is the only thing though i havent used them in ages

EDIT: just googled, they do do USB ones, that'd sort you out then

Yeah i do it all the time with my samsung syncmaster 205, theres a little button on the front that switches between the 2 inputs :) (its pretty much the same as the scart button on the tv... well i like to think of it like that) can windows 98 go to the resolution of the monitor is a better check.

Also have you considered bual booting with something like xp32 and running emulation software (like dos box) or use the vurtual computer thing for vista (its a free download from ms but i cant remember its name)

I have the Samsung 245B and looking at a picture of the 205 it appears I have the same buttons on the front.

As for Dosbox, it's a good program but I found it wasn't 100% with all games.

Never tried the Virtual computer thing in Vista, I'll check it out.

All in all I just found it easier to have a seperate computer running 98 then dual booting and having to get a new set of drivers for 32 bit and 64 bit.

Resolution may be a concern, my monitor is 16:10 widescreen (1920x1200 native resolution) but couldn't I just adjust that in the graphic settings before I boot up?

Anyway thanks for the replies.

i use vmware to boot older versions of windows. it also means if i need to rebuild the pc or if i want to have the older os's on a different pc then i can
