Hi have 2 matx Nofan cases I’d like to reuse, but the inards of both existing pcs are slow and the i5 cpus are not windows 11 compatible. Both are 9 years old.
So I need fit new matx MBs, a decent amount of ram, 32gb? And a future proof cpu to each one.
will I be able to reuse the fan less coolers I have… nofan cr-80s I believe.
silence is important for the office.
Hopefully i can reuse the existing PSUs.

any recommendations for something decent?

cheers

What are you doing with the PCs exactly? 32GB suggests we're not just talking MS Word here.

Is the PSU a standard ATX design? I know nothing about nofan (never heard of them).

The big problem is getting integrated graphics because e.g. the 12100 is currently very expensive (£140, was £100 awhile ago) and the cheapest Ryzen G CPU I can find is the 4600G for similar money.

You could go with a 10100, it is Windows 11 compatible and readily available around £100, but you'd be buying into a dead platform (B560 would have 11th gen as the max CPU).

What generation are the i5 cpus? I believe Intel kept the same mounts for 1st gen, right through to 11th gen, but 12th gen is officially not compatible and many coolers require a bracket, though some do work (to varying degrees) unmodified.

Thé 32gb is just because memory is cheap ish. Also often many applications are open at one time and they seem to eat up a fair amount of ram. Psus are normal atx supplies.
I am not concerned about costs particularly, I just want not to have to build another pc for a good few years.
I will find out what generation the i5s are and get back to you.
Thanks mate

5600g which is compatable with the no fan cooler and has onboard graphics, a b550 motherboard and 32gb of 3200mhz of memory will cost around £350.

That cooler will need case fans to move the hot air and is good up to 80w cpu otherwise it only cools 40w cpu.

The i3-10100 (or 10105, NOT -F) equivalent would cost you £100ish for the CPU and you could go for either H510 or B560 (B560 would be better for future upgrades). There are lots of discounts on midrange or high-end boards for B560, so you'd pay around £60 for H510 or £100 for B560 (OCUK have the MSI B560M Mortar for £105, which includes wifi, 2 m.2 slots). The i5-10600 is currently on offer for £135ish, but you'd probably need to turn the turbo off to avoid exceeding the capacity of your cooler.

The 5600G has much more powerful graphics than the 10100 or 10600, but for an office PC they should all be fine.
