2 different breeds of cats = OK? And other cat questions

Well actually its not so much the money, more how people ask about breeds getting on ect and how their personality is. I find the breed does change a few traits, but you can't bargain on a personality from spending £££on a pedigree of some sort.

Well thats true sure, but generally it does make it more likely. I've had a dog from a rescue home before and while they do ok with the right conditions you can always see somethign in their eyes like they are never going to be the same, which is sad, and why i wouldnt get another pet from a rescue home, its just too sad.

Video to follow.

Hehehe.

That pic of Mr. Bengal was taken while he was cleaning himself. As I focused the camera, it beeped, he froze and then looked up. I snapped.

Mr. Bengal is very long in the body. Almost snake like. When you handle him, his backbone gives very easily and he almost drapes himself over your arm. Reflex, on the other hand, has a very stiff backbone and when handling him, he remains very stiff.

EDIT: Rotty, I just played the video you posted earlier in this thread of your Bengal making his cat calls. Reflex, who was happily laying down, relaxing, with his eyes closed, immediately got up and started investigating the lounge, to find the cat, making the noise.

Its been a while since I updated this thread, so I thought I would do so now with some new pics.

The pics were taken a few months ago. The newest pics are still on my camera, but I shall post what I have:

More pics to come.

Mr Bengal is now a lot larger and fatter.
Reflex's bones have grown but his waist is thinner. He is remarkably thin and lean, while Mr Bengal is cuddly.

Most people actually like Mr Bengal more, as he is more approachable and bold. New visitors will be approached by Mr Bengal, while Reflex remains guarded.

Reflex remains my favourite though.

Nice to see some recent pics sunama, both looking good. Must get some new ones of my Bengal taken and hopefully Rotty can give us some new pic's of his two as well :D

He is now 7 and is still totally daft.

I have noticed that he allows you to sit beside him more now as before he would just move away right away.

If he met one of my 2, they would harrass him.

He looks like the sort of cat that is very moody and doesnt like to be messed with. Fortunately, Reflex likes to interfere with cats that dont want him around. ;)

Does the long hair create problems at all? I imagine you have to groom him a lot?

Yup I think the two that you have would have him diving for cover :p

Wife brushes him everyday but he is prone to a furball or two if he gives
himself a good licking.

Had the chance of getting his sister who was Blue /Cream at the time but the
thought of two was way to much work...but I wish I had done it when I see
the pics of yours lying beside each other.

Hehehe, Reflex would chase him around a lot, but once they accepted eachother, he would be very gentle.

Keep in mind though, that yours is a long haired cat. 2 long haired cats might be a lot of work.

I was originally going to get 1 Bengal and a Maine ****, but I baulked at the prospect of having to groom the Maine **** a regular basis. I also didnt like the idea of having hair all over the place and on my clothes. So I decided to get Reflex (Egyptian Mau).

Why dont you get another cat of a different breed? The variation makes things quite interesting as both cats have different behaviours, strengths and weaknesses.

Don't think getting another at this point would go down too well

He has enough trouble watching out for a 4 year old :)

You did the right thing in getting them together at an early age I would
hate to break up his current pattern of 22hrs sleep v 2hrs activity.
