Is it possible to have 2 hard drives on the 1 IDE cable?

As long as both drives are the same speed, I.E. ATA 133, then there will be no noticable drop in performance unless you access both drives at the same time transfering a LOT of data (unlikely).

If one drive is ATA133 and the other is ATA66, then both drive will run at ATA 66 speed.
