I will have a new computer soon that has 2 hard drives,
1TB NCQ SATA (2x500GB) 7200Rpm Dual HDD Config Raid 0 Stripe.

Is it true if you have the operating system installed on one of them and your games installed on the other it gives better performance?
or should i just use one of them, as i'm not going to get anywhere near using the space up in one of them.

sorry if this is a silly question, my old pc only had one hard drive so i don't know about this knd of stuff.

It's going to come preconfigured as a single RAID0 array by the look of things so when you open My Computer all you'll see is a single 1Tb c: drive. If you want to split it into 2 separate drives then you'll need to do a reinstall of the OS. This also has potential warranty implications though.

welcome to the forums :)

raid 0 means it'll appear as one drive in windows

ie, if you had a 10mb file, it would put 5mb on one drive and 5mb on the other, so it can (in theory) read it twice as quickly

the bad thing about raid 0 is if one drive fails, you lose all the data you had, so be sure to get a backup hard drive and back your important data up

1000gb is a lot of data to potentially lose

Basicly you will have 2 harddrives Raided into 1, so under my computer you will only see 1 Harddrive..

=] As it is raided, your PC should access the data a lot faster then your old Computer! you will see ;)
