2 hdds on same cable?

if i`ve got 2 ide hdds on one cable do i set one as the master and one as the slave or both to cable select?

I personally would be them to master and slave - I always put master on the middle connector, and the slave on the end one.

i thought it was master on the end slave in the middle and also if you change 1 from cable select ull need to change the other, but if they are both on cable select itll be fine

I bought a few akasa rounded 80pin ribbon cables and they both had pull tabs with "slave" in the middle and "master" at the end written on them. Dont see why the master would be furthest away? I just used the jumpers to set them to master/slave and had master closest to the mobo..

Master on end, slave in middle, or simply set both to Cable Select, either way will give the same results.
