As title. Is it possible to do this? E.g. play a game on one screen and have IE in another?

yes, but switching to the other monitor whilst your in the middle of a game is not so easy, you have to tab out of the game first

why would you want to use a different app whilst playing a game

i just alt tab, out of the game for a moment and then tab back in again

Yes play in window mode and you should be fine.

As mentioned, you've got to play it windowed. Just stretch the window to fill the screen, though.

Personally I got another (cheap) laptop for this purpose, on the desk beside my 2 monitors so when I'm in a game I can do stuff on msn, internet, etc. without switching focus.

If you got the game on steam, there is an insteam browser or if you use Xfire you can have a broswer in there aswell

Other then that you will have to play in windowed mode

i wish microsoft or another company would allow you to switch apps with losing focus it would be a big money earner

indeed it would, it needs to come in a future MS OS, a keyboard combo to switch screen focus, eg alt-s, would be ace.

For now though, we've gotta stick with windowed.

As said, can you not hook up an old system to run MSN+firefox etc? Doesn't cost much and it's easy enough to swap around. If you happen to have a netbook, that's perfect.
