2 n00b questions

Here's my two windows problems which I hope the experts here can help:

WIN XP PROF

1) I keep getting a log on screen even though from control panel-> user accounts i have disabled any pass or welcome screen. How can i get rido of the welcome screen?

2) Everytime my computer reaches windows desktop where it loads up the programs on the right corner it kinda freezes when its about to load up the network icon. As if windows waiting for something. Sometimes it just freezes a bit regardless of which icons are being loaded. Any idea what is this?

use tweakui for autologon.

Not so sure, maybe update all motherboard/network card drivers, video drivers, that kind of thing

control userpasswords2? Then choose your username and tell XP you don't want to login and it'll sort it for you.

1st problem is easy

You have an account called ASP.NET.

Delete it but choose to keep files. This will ensure your welcome screen dissapears. Its included as part of Win Update. The only users you should see are you and guest (and possibly administrator).

2nd problem, Do you have more than one network card? Or do you have a network card which is not connected to anything? A known issue with XP is if it tries to gain an ip address on a NIC which is not connected to anything, then it will pause while it sorts out its 169.xx address. You can manually set the ip address on the NIC to read the same as the 169 address you get after the pause, this will stop this from occurring, if this is the problem!

Lastly,

How can i change the way Alt+Ctrl+Del acts? right now if i press this combination the screen locks up and only the windows task manager is visible while before the task manker was inside windows desktop. Thanks

I don't think you can change that but the short cut to go directly to taskmanager is CTRL+Shift+Esc
