2 old GPU's plus a new PSU Vs a modern GPU upgrade

Hi,

So I'm brainstorming, would this be a better solution in this day with the high GPU prices, another 7970 and a new PSU to power it, would this be less overall than shelling out for a new GPU and be better in terms of price/performance at the moment?

Games you play support crossfire and support it well ?

I play GTA V, The Crew, Cities Skylines. I'm just clutching at straws really I feel properly stuck and forced to lower settings as it's impossible to see a way upwards in GPU performance without loosing an arm and a leg.

I'm in the same boat, I have 2 x 7970's, which run a lot of games with good results, but others not so. As you may know the cards won't double up on everything, you'll still only get 3Gb memory, but if a game is optimized for 2 cards, they work nicely.
Prices of Video cards right now are nothing short of scandalous!
I paid £600 for the both of the 7970's which were pretty much top cards at the time!
