Just an idea really, is it possible to have 2 PSU's in a rig? (obviously if the rig needs the power and they'll fit)

??

Also I'm thinking of upgrading my generic 500w PSU and have narrowed my search down to 2 (both recommended by OcUK members) but I'm having difficulty choosing...

OCZ GAMEXSTREAM OCZ600GXSSLI 600W A/PFC -

Corsair CMPSU-520HXUK PSC-520WHX

Both roughly £60.00

Ive got this in my file server, A little bodge job on some old PSU's i had and it works fine, The only thing is i did this because i don't have the money to buy a high enough rating power supply.

I wouldnt bother putting 2 supplys in 1 system just use the money and get a good high rateing one?

easy enough but....why?

It was curiosity rather than an idea. I've never seen nor heard of it being done before, I mean why would you (?) apart from not being able to afford 1 decent PSU and/or having few cheap generics lyinig around the house (as most 'clockers/upgraders usually have).

Definitely go for the Corsair mate. The new Antec P190 has dual power supplies, you can find it here.

More forum members have recommended the Corsiar PSU tbh...think that'll be the one to get! :D
I'm loving the Antec P190 Gaming Case..bit steep in price for me tho

Definitely possible. Some case manufacturers are accommodating use of two PSUs in some models... The Antec P190 and Lian-Li PCA-10 spring to mind :)

Hi,

I run two PSUs in one case, 2 x Tagan 480w. been ok for around 5-6 months now.

Hope that helps you out a bit if your still looking into it or haven't decided what to do yet.

Can be done, but rather have

1) Single higher powered/quality PSU
2) In a file server, in a case with lots of HD then go for dual PSU setup.
3) with a UPS as well.

waste of time for everyday user.

2 psus is like raid 0 setup. you have double the chance of 1 psu going dodgey and still shafting the rest of the system.

id stick to 1 good psu to be honest.

I run a pair of PSU's and its pretty easy to setup. I made my own adapter which took a while but works well.

I did it because it was cheaper and quieter than buying a single PSU of the same power and also just out of curiosity and for the hell of it.
