What is a good processor for converting video and video editing?

Intel I7 2600k?
Intel I5 2600k?
or a amd x6?

I will be getting a 570 as well most likely for cuda and the odd game (knowing me I'll get hooked back onto pc gaming lol)

Also does anybody know if the TP-Link 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch is any good? I got a 4 port gigabit switch but need more ports for my nas drives and computers and going to use the 4 port for my front room since the wireless router from bethere is playing up and my dad ant phoned them so going to plug laptop into it as I'm always streaming movies form the nas to my laptop.

It depends on the programs you are going to be using. If they can make good use of hyperthreading and you don't mind the extra cost then the 2600K is better than the 2500k (I'm assuming you meant to type i5 2500K), I'm not sure how the x6 stacks up against the 2600k but I'm sure there will be comparisons somewhere online.

Thanks guys and opps I did mean 2500k

going by them benchmarks the i7 is the way to go.. and I will be useing After effects and adobe video encoder mkv to vob and maybe some others (I need to look more into them) been doing converting on my mac mini and it really makes me miss my old i7 lol

Am I right in thinking there is a hack or something so you can use the 570 cuda on after effects?

In the next few months I will pick one up then with a sexy new motorboard case and ram with some of them new Intel ssds... Feel like a kid at christmas! nothing like building a new pc lol

Wasn't amd bringing out new cpus? I thought I read on here ages ago people saying out in a mounth and nothing new is out? I think the new Intels are out earily next year tho.
