2 quick HTML thingies help

Hi guys,

1), I'm helping a friend knock up a quick holding page. He has a background image which is grey at the left, gradients towards the middle and is grey at the right. This is so that the text always appears in the lightest part of the gradient. So, what's the easiest way to implement this background image so that it is adaptable to different screen sizes?

2), He would like a specific font used. If I upload this font to the server, can CSS or similar call it to be used?

About the second one, if you upload the font then in your CSS

@font-face { font-family: yourFont; src:url('http://website.co.uk/fonts/font.ttf'); }

CSS3 can do gradients. It's not supported by all browsers (< IE 8) but its a simple solution.
