2 raptor's vs 2 seagate 7200.10's

well i have 2 raptor 75GB 8MB cache and 2 seagates 7200.10's of varying size normally i would stick OS on 1 raptor and all games on the other and use the spare hard drives for storage but im told the seagates are faster then the raptors for certain things, what should i now do? should i use a raptor or a seagate for OS? should i use a raptor or seagate for games? or should i be looking to sell my raptors? (this option is a joke)

so how should i be setting my new rig up? surely 10000 rpm should make my raptors still faster for gaming and OS but the seagates faster for stuff like encoding, etc.

The raptors have a bit lower avrage read compared to seagates, while seagates have a worse seek time, basicly if prperly defragmented, seagates are better at reading big files and raptors at a lot of small files.

Thus os would be best on the raptors, together with games wich have a lot of files.

However games wich have everything in like 1-5 big .dat files would be faster on the seagates...

well i have 3 rigs and altogether i have

2 x seagate 7200.10
2 x raptor 75GB 8MB Cache
2 x samsung spinpoint sata
2 x samsung spinpoint ide

im gonna be using the seagate and raptors since they are the fastest, would i see any difference in speed between spinpoints with ide than sata? ill show you how current rigs are setup or going to be setup

rig 1

2 raptors (os and games)
2 seagates (storage)

rig 2

2x spinpoint ide

rig 3

2 x spinpoint sata

should i change this setup to

rigs 2 and 3

1 x spinpoint sata (os and games)
1 x spinpoint ide (storage)

rig's 2 and 3 are my little brothers and my dads, my dad is a total noob so doesnt need fast hard drives or anything he just uses the pc for pron. my brother on the other hand dabbles in the occasional game or 2

ps - i will not be running raid in any of the above 3 rigs

go with the seagates as u only have 8mb raptors, if u had 16mb versions i would say go with them
