Can I use 2 slot fan in my XC cube?

Hi just a query before I shell out nearly £200 on an AGP card...

I've an XC Cube EZ65-II and want to know how to install a twin fan slot AGP card.

The AGP slot is right by the edge of the machine and there's steel in the way where I imagine the twin slot would slip into.

Has anyone managed workarounds for this?

I've a P4 3.2 Ghz northwood (single core, 32bit) and would hapilly go to the PCI-Express if my CPU wasn't going to be dated aswell.
So I reckon the GeForce 7800 GS (with 7900 core) is the fastest AGP card available and will push it up. (Currently on All in Wonder 9800 Pro).

Any ideas or alternative suggestions?
Thanks

Seb

Most shuttles have the same problem. Short of cutting a large chunk out of the side panel and modifying the card bracket there aint much you can do :(.

You could fit a single slot cooler onto the new card but that'll bring about its own problems.

In short, you can't. EZ65-II owner here too. :)

If I may suggest, why not get a Leadtek 7600GT AGP? At stock speeds it performs comparable or slightly quicker than a 6800 Ultra. Once overclocked it is considerably quicker still. All for £129 :)

In my opinion yes. I think the 7800GS pulls ahead marginally in high resolutions but considering its a 1 or 2fp difference and a £70 difference in price tag, I'd get the 7600GT :)

Out of interest mate, how well does your XC Cube deal with heat? Does your fan spool up in time before it gets too hot?

Thanks for the advice on that card.
Just need to be sure that its a one slot fan.

Yes, my XC fan speeds up but mainly once I've taxed the cpu with something like encoding videos. Never happens in games.

I also leave the case off anyway as its under the workbench legs (as in photo) and out of the way (hopefully) of my legs. Not kicked it yet and its been there for over a year now.

If I put the case back on, the cpu fan does make slightly more noise as its working harder due to the case grill and slightly higher temp due to the contained heat.

Hope this answers your question!

Cheers. Unfortunately my fan seems to jam at around 1700RPM. While truly silent, it gets way too hot and eventually throws out an alarm. I've shoved it on a controller now though :)

The 7600GT has a single slot fan mate :)

Just a thought, have you checked out the BIOS?
You can set the fan to stay at full speed (as it goes when its first turned on after being plugged into the wall socket) and see if it reaches 3000rpm.
I've got some temp settings set so when it reaches 65C it goes up.

As for Qs, I take it the 7600GT is the best single fan AGP card (ATI & Nvidia) I can get then are there any good comparison sites I can check performance tests so I know what to expect?

Ta.
