2 small Dual vs 1 big Single

As above, depends on the use.
A single larger screen would be my choice if all I did was FPS game, but I play mmorpg's with other windows on screen 2 (anyone playing wow i'm sure could understand having thottbot/raid guides/messenger/voice comms whatever on another screen while playing).
I find image editing is easier with 2 screens, main work on screen 1, tools and other images screen 2.

So, whats your need?

At home, I mostly browse the internet, watch films and play games. For that, most definately 1 big screen. With 1 big screen, you always have the option of getting another one to match later on.

However at work I prefer to use 3 screens. Easier to have 3 programs maximised instead of playing around with the windows. But then I dont do much graphics work. Its mostly word, access, outlook, notes, explorer and crimson editor.

This is exactly my dilemma at the mo. Either gonna get 2x Dell 2007WFP or 1x 2407WFP. I have finally decided to go for the dual setup because it suits my needs more for multitasking like watching films/web browsing or for coding in Visual Basic. I do play games aswell but I don't mind having to only use one screen. Another factor is that I don't really have a good enough graphics card to run games properly on a 24" monitor

IMO the 24in will be more future proof.

I bought mine in the thought that I will probably be still usig this in 5+ years time.

If I only bought 20inchers I would probably upgrade much sooner.

If you are thinking of SLI in the future, thats out the question also.

Really? Never knew that. I would have presumed that you could plug each monitor into the primary gfx card in an SLI setup and it would take advantage of the extra power?

Nope it runs through one card. Why it doesnt work is beyond most of the SLI users too :)

Not sure if Crossfire supports dual monitor.

I've done exactly the same thing :)

I have 2 screens sealed. Awaiting for a brand new build tomorrow. Expect to see lots of pics and a review if need be!

Yep just ordered mine aswell, will post pics once they arrive :D
Just out of interest Dark_Shadow what gfx card have you got in your brand new build?

I personally prefer q large monitor than 2 smaller ones, I have had dual setup for about 3 years now and I just swapped to the 2407 and I wouldn't go back to dual ever again.

What if you have a dual head graphics cars. Plug both monitors into one card?
I havnt had any experience with them personally, but I'd imagine the SLI'ers would've tried that before sounding off about it day in day out ;D

Search here, you'll find a fair bit on it I think.

You would if you could get another 2407!

Don't want to steal the thread, but I'm also considering getting another 1907FP to go alongside my existing one...

Just a few questions, what can I do with the second desktop? I like the idea of having my main concentration on the screen in front of me, then stuff like messenger on the right hand side.

Also, linux users, how easy is it to set up on there? At the moment, I've got my Ubuntu/Vista machine on the analogue input, but could theoretically have that using dual display too, but with the primary screen to the right?

Being able to see both is a reason I'm more tempted towards getting the dual rather than a bigger monitor. Does anyone run dual, dual displays? :)
