so im getting another ssd tomorrow, m4, im going to be formatting my pc and jsut wanted advice on how to go about installing my os on the m4 and then setting up my second ssd vertex 2 , for games, do i re-run windows install to format the ssd? or will it just work from a secure erase?

You should be fine to install the OS straight onto the new drive. Format the second drive to NTFS so its blank. I use Gparted to format my drives.

my current ssd ocz vertex 2 120gb, is what i will be using for my games and such, im going to do a secure erase on this(if is necessary). then when ive got windows installed on my new drive can i just set the old one up in windows with disk management?

Unless there is something you want to hide then I wouldn't bother with the secure erase.

You should be able to format the drive in Windows but your PC might want to boot from it as it will also have an active OS on it.

Secure Erase is typically recommended after updating the firmware on a drive; other than that, if you have Windows 7 then the TRIM functionality (supported on the Vertex 2) will maintain the drive for you. It sounds like you're trying to make more work for yourself.

im just unsure as what i need to do, got nothing to hide btw :) i just thought thats what you had to do. so if i install windows to my new ssd, i can then do a quick format in windows on my old drive to bring it back like new, so i can install my games and a few programs on to it?

Yeah. Just treat it as a normal drive and use Quick Format, as long as you're running Windows 7. The OCZ guide actually says that you may notice a slight decrease in performance after a Secure Erase.
