2 suggested builds.... help!

been looking to build a new pc, had a mac for a few years and want to get a pc to do a bit of gaming, photo editing etc.

made up the following 2 systems can anyone look over them and make some suggestions/alterations.

trying to keep the build under £700 but its too hard!

In answer to your question, neither. Socket 1155 is dead. 1150 and Haswell is the sensible choice now. If you give us a budget and what the pc will be used for i am sure someone will spec you up a nice rig.

oh sorry, i will edit.

as i say will mainly be used for gaming, bit of photoshop and general computing, nothing too intensive.

need everything up - cpu,mobo,ram,ssd,gpu,case,psu etc. i like the corsair 200r case.

budget 600-700

In terms of gaming, there`s not a great gain for Haswell over IB.

Yes, "sacrifice" the CPU.

There's no point in getting a K model if you're not going to overclock.

Ah well if so, then don't sacrifice the GPU - rather sacrifice the CPU as game performance is more dependent on GPU power.

Personally if I were spending £700 I'd certainly want to allow for an SSD.

For that I'd sacrifice a little CPU power, as it will seem faster anyway.

That's what I'd do. Mobo is B grade so might need some sata cables, it's deliberately under budget to pay for those. You can use the stock heatsink and add an aftermarket one later on when you feel the need to OC.

No way, I would want the best Cpu and Gpu I could get. An ssd is nice to have but not essential. The OP can always add one at a later time when funds permit.

A 670 and 8320 would be more than enough at 1080p, for me anyway.

I can't imagine many who use a SSD wanting to go back to not having one for the sake of small gains from the CPU or GPU to be honest.
