1st: HDCP - So, what actually is HDCP? I understand it's a form of audio/visual copy protection but exactly how does it work, and will it impact me in any way? I record movies of games i'm playing and sometimes burn them to DVD for some friends etc. This wont be impacted will it? Or is it more of copying visual/audio data via the DVI or VGA connection that's the issue it solves?

2nd: HDMI - Are there any decent Nvidia cards with a HDMI output? I can't see any. I'm thinking ~GTX260 or more really. If not, what are the ATI alternatives. 4870 and 4890?

I don't think nVidia's cards do audio over HDMI, ATi's cards have native HDMI with audio support. They come with a DVI-HDMI adapter, but it still works with audio as long as you use the adapter.

I would suggest waiting to get a new card though. ATi's releasing their new GPUs in a few weeks, and they're looking like they're going to be around 2x as fast as the 4800s.

The Gigabyte 260 does? Score! That's the one i was looking at to be honest! It doesn't list a HDMI output on the Product Description, but it's deffo on there? :) It says 2 x Dual-Link DVI-I?

Yeah i'm not too worried about Audio over HDMI at this point, i'll use a seperate sound card. At some point i'll be converting the gaming PC into a HTPC you see since most of it's components are aging now and i play games less and less.. the 8800GT in it is fine but figured i'd get something with HDMI so that i can play games for now, and keep it when i convert it to a HTPC.

I wasn't aware that ATI were releasing new cards, but I dont think i need anythign super high end anymore, so i'll wait and see what they are and what the price is.
