The top one (WD2500YS) is an older design with a lower data density on the platters and hence will be slightly slower than the AAKS one.

Personally I wouldn't buy either but go with the newer Seagate 7200.10. It's not only cheaper but quite a bit quicker than either of the WDs due to it using a single 250Gb platter.

Im not really specced up on these lol. I am looking for one that is 7200RPM, has 16MB of cache (thats what i got now) and between 100-160GB. Just seems you cant get 16mb cache with the smaller drives now?

Right im going to go for a 160GB instead as ive only used 60GB on this one. Could you make any suggestions to the best 160GB drives? What have u guys got?

If you've got your heart set on a 160Gb drive then the WD AAJS is the one to go with however I'm going to stick with my original advice and say buy the 250Gb Seagate 7200.10. It's only £10 more and in terms of sustained transfer it is the fastest SATA drive available.

Cheers for you help m8, im a little unexperianced with these. If its the fastest sata avail and you feel its the best ill go with that. It is quiet too yeah?

Was looking at raptors but price put me off lol :D
