hi people

well ive invested in 2 SCSI 36g 15000rpm HP atlas drives new at a very good price.

I have 2 questions or maybe more!

1st adabtec DELL OEM C4272 Adaptec 39320 39320-R One Channel 64Bit PCI-X U320 SCSI this is a dual channel card but one is internal, what ever that means. first thing to ask is any good?

2nd what cable do i need to conect the drives to card? all new to scsi so have no idea!

3rd I would like to run raid O on these drives as i have enough storage of 500g how would they perform in raid O?

4th might have a couple of raptors going cheap soon!

5th all help greatly apreciated!

Cheers! :)

Hi jeff thanks for the reply! I will be useing PCI-X as my board has 2 slots.

so will this be ok for a full speed raid system?

and i will order me up some cables when my drives arrive tomorow.

cheers!

jeff if you dont mind a quick look at this and tell me what you think/

Adaptec 39320-AR ultra 320 raid PCi-X card 2 channel
twin atlas 36g 15000rpm 320 drives

What i would like to do is run raid O with this if possible but iam open to surgestions for the best way to set them up!

many thanks

Thanks jeff sounds like i got everything i need, well there for my main PC, i do video editing as i put together VW cup raceing team video, plus i download a lot myself, and play games!

so basicly as much as possible! I have some large storage drives that i use mainly for back up where speed isnt really the issue, but i do like speed when saveing rar files and video

hopefully the scsi will speed things up nicely! thanks for all your advice geoff, much apreciated and i may well call on your knowlage again when i get everything all set up ready to configure. looking forward to some scsi speed, drives have arrived its just the card now, plus i have some cables.

and also if you know anyone intrested i have a american megatrends series 475 rev-B3 mega raid card with its own intel processor and onboard ram, bit of a beast really but its ultra 160 PCI based. so if you know anyone, please let me know.

many thanks

matt
