2 X Drive RAID 0 Setup | Whats Drives?

Hi Guys,

I've had my heart set on purchasing 2 X 320 Samsung F1 Spinpoints but to my utter dismay i have discovered that they seem to be completely out of stock in the UK.

Now I'm looking for a suitable replacement. Basically, i want to use the array in addition to my 74GB Raptor boot drive for games, movies and pictures.

I have a budget of between £80 - £150. Can anyone help? Note: I already have 750 Gb of external storage which will serve as an offline backup.

I was under the opinion that with a low enough stripe that RAID is excellent for loading maps etc etc. I was considering getting 2 X WD320AAKS. Can anyone think of a better alternative?

Just had a look on OCUK. Which out of these drives would you suggest?

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Western Digital RE2 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Western Digital Caviar SE16 400GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD3200AAKS)

The WD3200 are supposed to be better than the 7200.11 right?

OK, seems strange that a single platter would be slower than 2 platters. £140 is getting a little close to my max budget. Especially considering that i don't actually need that much storage.

Does anyone know of an alternative?

Please helpp....

Thanks Guys! Lol, now i'm torn between the 1TB WD and the 640 WD. As mentioned above, the 1 TB price wise is unbeatable!!!!!

Ok, just seen this: http://techreport.com/articles.x/14380 !!! It appears that there is very little difference between the WD 3200AAK and the 1TB F1. Considering how cheep the 1TB samsungs are, i think i'll get one of those

I think £100 is a more viable option for a small OS drive. I've been using the C300 for a few months now and it's awesome.
