Hi,

I need to join my 2 7990 EK blocks, cant find any EK FC Dual Serial Terminal anywhere so is a Dual Parallel OK to use. Just have my GPU's in a loop (no CPU).

at the moment i just have regular piping between the ek and xspc block but when the 2nd ek block arrives id like to make it prettier :) 1 pipe in 1 out. instead of 3 all over the place lol

Was the link I sent you suitable?

If a bridge is what you're after, then fair enough, but I reckon one of those EK HD tubes (with the correct fittings) and a 90° rotary on the bottom card would look sweet too.

+1 for the EK hd fittings. They would be a dirt cheap and great looking alternative. Fittings are secure and really easy to use, if you dont mind cutting the acrylic yourself, a cheap £2 hacksaw and some sandpaper will get the job done in a few minutes.

You also get major pro points for using acrylic ;)

Are you talking about the fittings for the bridge?

I recently put my 2 GTX 580's onto a bridge and had to go elsewhere for the connections. For some reason OCUK only do blanks which is basically just to fill the space of where a graphics card would be if you don't have that many, like for example if you had a 3 card bridge and only 2 cards you would use the blank on the 'empty' slot to stop the coolant flowing out basically.

So yea you need to pick whatever your bridge itself is. If im correct the actual fittings are simply made for the card type, it is the bridge itself that decides whether its a serial or parallel setting.

If your unsure too a parallel is meant to cool both cards at the same time whereas a serial will pass the fluid through the first card and then onto the second. The idea is that a parallel 'should' have the same temp on all cards connected to the bridge whereas the serial connection would have any card after the first that is cooled at slightly higher temps due to the fluid heating up as it passes through each card.

In reality it makes no difference as far as I can tell. I have 2 cards on a parallel bridge and even now with me just browsing I have card 1 at 36 degrees and card 2 at 34. It isn't rare for the temps to range further on load too!

Hope this helps.

Fittings to be used instead of a bridge. Connecting two cards would only need two fittings (£3 each) and an acrylic tube the size of the spacing between them.

Unless he wants to use the bridge for aesthetic reasons. Plus once all hooked up the bridge will offer far superior solidity and structural support for the cards than a simple connection piece will.

As with everything with PC modding though it is down to personal preference. I prefer the look of the bridge (I hate the new EK stuff. Its a piece of frosted plastic with circles drilled into it... That was NEVER in fashion, nor will it be (not in my book anyway!)).

Most people suggest going serial unless you are anal about having the cards reading very similar temps but as I said even with parallel it isn't that similar so I doubt it makes much difference. Good luck with whatever you decide! :)

I have never heard of rigid acrylic not offering enough support. I use it to link between blocks and it has made my loop so much sturdier, especially because new rigid acrylic fittings like Primochills and EKHD fit much more snugly and require a fair bit of force to remove.

In what way does acrylic not offer the 'solidarity' or 'structural support' you require?

Also, FYI EKs new blocks are clean plexi due to popular demand and have been available in clean plexi for a while.
