Hi

I want to do the following:

Replace my 2x WD's SATAII 7200rpm @ 120Gb w/ 8mb cache each in Raid 0, with the following:

a) 2x WD/Maxtors SATAII 7200rpm w/16mb cache each in Raid 0

OR

b) 1x WD 150GB Raptor 10,000rpm w/16mb cache

Which one would you go for, these drives would be used for Games, internet & encoding.

Any views appreciated !

I wouldn't buy the Seagates as they're suffering from motor noise problems. That isn't classed as faulty so you won't get a refund.
Don't buy a Maxtor, I'll sell you a red brick for half the price.

I use three hards in non raid and it's more than fast enough. Do you have a sole Windows drive (C)? Lots of RAM? Encoding to another drive (D)? Game on another (E)?

"yes i have c: as my os/apps/games"

I would put the games onto another drive.
Seconded! Docs & Games should be installed on another partition or drive so that when Windows goes 'potty' you don't loose e.g. your saves :)

I'm in a similar situation as I'm looking to add more space for my gaming rig as I've only got a 74Gig Raptor and I was wondering whether or not I should buy another Raptor or go for two 80Gig or 120Gig drives in a raid.
I'd then use the Raptor for Windows and Encoding on and then the two drives for games.

Would that be a good way to do it or is there a better way?

what im looking for a is actual speed transferal, would there be any speed difference between having 2 hd's w/ 16mb cache in raid 0 or 1 single raptor ?
