Not going to be buying just yet..but i thought i would get your opinions on this.

at the moment im thinking of the

HP HDX9250 T9300 C2D 2.5 4 gig ram 500mg HDD with a 8800M

price under £1500 or thereabouts. UK only

because i like to move the laptop around house and i occasionally take it on business trips :D Though I think i might need to get up close to a 20" lappy beast in the flesh just to get an idea how cumbersome it is to carry around.

Dell do a 20" laptop as well but they havent updated it on their website yet (it still has the x1800 in it i think)

I have a 17" atm. I wouldnt mind something a little bigger with a full size keyb instead of a laptop keyboard.

I have thought about getting a larger external monitor (min 24") and then wall mounting it in my bedroom and connecting it to my lappy when i want to watch dvds in bed or for gaming. hrmm maybes.

the hdx is a well made laptop but weighs in at 7kg not really what you would want on your lap for long, the other 20" ive played with is the Acer but is even more cumbersome than the HDX, the screens are only 1440 x 900 on both these i think so dont look that good, i would definately go look at one before you splash out 1500 notes.

The laptop you refer to in your original post I've had a go with in a popular PC store and my god is it huge. :D

Screen is beautiful as is the case, however it's resolution is on the low side (1680x1050) and because it's so big it feels a bit flimsy. (It's damm heavy too :p )

If your going to spend £1500 then I would advise looking around and making sure you make the correct decision as it's quite allot of money to invest.

However 17" machines are still improving, take a look at the m1730 as well, fantastic bit of kit. With an external screen it's even better. :)
