£200-300 Stereo system recommendation.

Hi chaps, my dad is after a sound system to go with his new 42PX80 TV in a small living room. His requirements are:

• £200-300
• preferably available from a physical retail store (but not a necessity)
• used for TV, DVD and music (music the priority hence stereo)
• floor standers preferred over book shelf speakers
• potential to connect various DVD/Blueray devices and games consoles

It's true, but by the sound of the OP, he wants something new, rather than 2nd hand

Parents can be impossible sometimes. He wants something new and there's no way I can convince him otherwise.
