This is the cheapest I could spec. No Idea if it will be reliable/stable/suitable. you said 200 notes so choices aren't going to be a lot.

200 pound for playing games that are out these days at good quality

I wouldn't say you will get a decent pc to play nower days games, you would have to pay atleast 500-600 and thats just to play medium high settings in some games today. 200 pound won't get you anywhere really....

i would say save up... wait until the new I7 6 core gets released and the fermi gets released so the prices will drop and get a better pc setup for your money. ;

Stefan.

If saving isn't an option (and bear in mind Stefan that prices could still go up... again. My e7500 costs over 10% more than it did last year, and my RAM has doubled in price) then go for it. Also, you don't need to spend £500-£600 to play games at medium, my sig combo would cost less than £350 and runs Crysis nice as you please @ high settings on my 23" monitor.
I think Grimley has the right idea with the graphics card, but I'd be aiming for an e6500 @ £62.99 instead of the AMD. I think that extra £20 will serve you well.
I'd go Kingston HyperX 2GB (1x2GB) DDR2-8500CL5 1066MHz @ £37.99.
About £40 for a mobo leaves you £10 over budget, but I think it's a better machine.

If £200 really is your budget to play games, then I would have to say a PS3. Mine cost me £200 new last June ...

As others have said, you won't get a great gaming spec upgrade for £200. I can suggest this for a bit over:

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5670 512MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £65.99
(£56.16) £65.99
(£56.16)
Asus M4A78LT-M LE AMD 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard £57.99
(£49.35) £57.99
(£49.35)
AMD Athlon II X2 Dual Core 250 3.00GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £51.99
(£44.25) £51.99
(£44.25)
Corsair Value Select 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Memory Module (VS2GB1333D3 G) £49.98
(£42.54) £49.98
(£42.54)
Sub Total : £192.30

VAT is being charged at 17.50% VAT : £35.32
Total : £237.12

But you won't be running games released this year on high resolution with that.

Id be looking to buy 2nd hand. Youd easily get a half decent base unit for that if you got 2nd hand bits. If you need a monitor tho youre really gonna struggle

To be honest if he got that but got a 2nd hand GFX card like a 4850 for £50 then that wouldnt be a bad little machine :)
