I've got the PC in my sig having recently upgrading everything but the PSU, case and GPU. I'm happy to keep the case and PSU (Thermaltake Tsunami Dream and Corsair CX400 respectively) but need the GPU updating.

I'm aiming for £200 plus or minus £10-20. I guess I'm looking at a 470, but which one should I go for?

I have the standard gigabyte 470 oc model, good card, but i kinda wish id waited and spent the extra on the soc model. Better cooling solution, uses a bit less power and a clockspeed at 700mhz. My own card is clocked at 750mhz, but the stock cooler isnt very good, also rather loud.

I keep getting chastised for recommending it, as people seem to think its better to go for the more cheaper versions of the 470.

But if it was me buying right now I would get this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-066-GI&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1810

Performs like if not better than a 5870.

Quite and cool and will have overclocking head room, due to good cooler already installed.

What psu do you have?

Corsair CX400. That's about £20 more than I wanted to pay but I might be able to stretch to it if its worth the extra.

An HD6850 1GB has lower power consumption than a GTX460 768MB and is very similar in performance to a GTX460 1GB and only uses a single PCI-E power connector.

Cheapest 470's usually mean retailer cards like the OCUK 470's, RMA's are dealt with by the retailer so they inspect the cards, you telling me they are going to miss something like the cooler being removed which inevitably means removing the " warranty void if removed " sticker covering that screw hole you need access to, or the artic silver 5 TP used.

Bump for an old post.

I've got a bit more cash than I thought I did. Anyone know if for £320-330 I could get a decent 470 and a PSU that will provide enough power for it? Obviously the less the better, and I won't be adding anything else to the setup in my sig other than the GPU so doesn't need to be massively powerful.
