£200 upgrade

In terms of power 700w will be more than enough but the brand is cheap and probably can't maintain a constant power.

Exactly and although it may be rated at 700W it does not mean it has the Amps on the 12V Rail required.

There is a reason why its a cheap PSU costing about £30 to £40 I'm afraid...

My first choice would be a decent psu, I can't believe anyone didn't mention until the end of pg1. Yes it is a pile of cheap nasty crap. Get a decent psu along with a nice case, maybe overclock the cpu..

hmmmm thinking about the psu bit. here are the spec of my current psu so you can tell me how crap it is :P

.green power <70 (high efficiency)
. thermal control
. over voltage protection : +3.3v, +5v,+12v
. suited voltage ac input 115/230v
.100% burn in test / vibration test/ hi-pot tes/leak current test
.special pfc technology
.2.0 or 2.2 version support dual core and multi core gpu tech
. 2x pci-e connecter for multi gpu
.700 watt

None of these specifications mean anything. Its the Amps of the Rails of the PSU which is what you need to check. Even if these are within the recommended limit (which I doubt) I think your pushing a generic PSU to its limits as it is with that your running tbh...

also if it would work well or last long with 2 gfx cards/ ssd's whatever?

What you need to ask yourself is:

Is it really worth skimping on the power supply in the hope to save a few pounds at the risk of it going and taking some if not all the other components of your PC with it?

Only you can answer that one...

i've just been reading a few articles of ezcool psu's and i have to say i made a bad choice in buying this one allthough i have had it running fine for 5 months now so psu is now a defo upgrade

for a psu i will need something with at least 4 6pin's with correct amps, an so on.
im not very up todate with psu's either so please excuse that, and prferably a modular psui

I was gonna say get an SSD and more memory but after hearing you got a poor PSU, i really think you should upgrade the PSU.
I remember about 4 years ago having a generic 400w PSU and my pc wasnt running as it should be. Couldnt figure out why, some clever people on here told me to upgrade the PSU. I bought a 650w enermax one and my pc ran a lot better and i was getting more fps in my games etc.
Now when i upgrade my pc i pay extra for a good pc over any other part. I currently have a zalman 1000w, which should last me for quite a few upgrades.

Anyway point is get an awesome PSU :)

i think not taking the advice of others here and keeping the 5830 is just foolish listen to peoples advice all the people in this thread cannot be wrong and you be right

no i don't have an ssd at the moment,if i did get one it would be a boot drive though and as i have said selling the 5830 is not an option as i have just got it and tbh imo it is a lot better card than everyone is saying it is runs most games at 4000x1000 maxed out no prob at 60+fps it's just a few that i have to turn settings down, this is with an overclock ofc tho

this is a lie, fool yourself all you want but it is

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/171?vs=158

that is your card vs one of mine and i know for a fact my card would not run 60fps @ that res on the games i play

you are either having every single pu setting turned off you you are playiing lemmings

if you want to game with new games at decent setting ditch the bottom of the range old gen 5830 for somthing else, dont add another crap graphics card to make the situation worse by using more power, making the case hotter and making your system louder.

a single gpu option is always better, adding a second is an advantage when you are at the top end of graphics cards but not when buying basic budget cards.

say what you wish

but i am not a lier, and there is only a few games that the fps hovers around mid 30's and a 5830 is not bottem of the range old gen graphics......

have you ever owned one? i am quite satisfied with it actually.

im sorry if i cannot afford to keep swaping and changing to the lastest most high powered graphics cards. i have allready said changing my current gpu is not an option so could you please keep your trash talk of the 5830's away as i find it to be a very good card and is perfectly capable of doing eyefinity and keeping a decent frame rate with maybe a few settings turned down in certain games

I think there's a real danger of needless hysteria about the PSU. This isn't 2004, PSUs aren't the minefield they used to be. Yes, it's almost certainly less reliable than others, yes it'll be less efficient and noisy, but it's not the accident waiting to happen that people are indicating. I'd be looking to change it though, and granted that the OP is looking to drop £200 and there's nothing screaming to be upgraded then I'd put it up the list and probably do it first. If you were to go for a new PSU I'd go for a Corsair CX600.
