It's not a small branch, would I have to ring up so they can have the money ready? or is it not that large an ammount?

Macclesfield branch I assume?

They didn't have a problem last time I needed that much cash.

It did, but I engaged brain and thought, I know I'll save time on here.

Savings account? phone them. I'd still phone them if it was a current account, just so you get no hassle/questions when you get there.

Might be worth just giving them a ring and telling them you want the cash. :)

I think its over £4-5k when you need to arrange a date to pick it up, withdrawn £1500 before with no problems, banks hold a **** load of money.

Anything below £9000 and they dont need any prior notification. Over this and they like a call to let them know that you are coming, although i have withdrawn amounts greater than this numerous times with no prior call, just make sure you take lots of ID. This is with natwest.

At 19:00?

Most Natwest branches don't have direct phone numbers, but rather have call centres which deal with branch enquiries. The OP probably get just as much help calling customer services as the actual branch.

Wasn't part of a recent advertisement campaign that you can get in touch with your local branch?

Yeah, that always amused me, especially as it was around the time they removed access to branch phone numbers for anyone who didn't work in one of the branch call centres.

Anything under 10k and any real bank will have that unless they've JUST had their cash run and sent their reserve back. Highest counter encashent I've done was £56k (purse for a boxing match).

Where do you live, where is your bank and do you walk\drive through any secluded areas on the way back?

:p

Odd then that they still have a phone number for every branch on their website? and i've never had any problems getting through to my branch?

I regularly used to have over £100K in just my till at the end of the day when I worked in a NatWest branch (admittedly over 10 years ago, and in a large West-End branch). That was one till out of 6.

There would be at least £5million in cash in the safe downstairs, just in case it was needed....

Lets take an example of the Edinburgh George St Branch.
Location:
8 George Street
EH2 2SB
Sortcode
603020
Contact
24-hour telephone service 0845 609 0000
International +44 (0) 127 439 4611
Branch 0845 366 1965

The first number is customer services, the second is a Bradford number (will be Bradford CTC) and the third is an 0845 number which will also go to Bradford CTC.

Doesn't seem like any direct numbers to a branch to me.
