2002 Mondeo

Hi

Off to look at a Ford Mondeo 2.0 ltr Ghia hatchback 5dr later today (petrol).

Is there anything in particular I should be looking for on it (common faults etc?).

Also with ~120,000 miles what servicing should it have had recently (or be due soon)?

Make damn sure that the butterfly/swirl flaps have been changed.

It was a fault with the inlet manifold where the swirl flaps would become loose and could eventually be pulled into the inlet manifold. It's £900 from a Ford Main dealer if you catch it before that happens. I believe it affected 1.8/2.0 Mondeos until 15th Oct 02.

Yep, that is the key issue. Had mine removed the day after I bought the car. 2 of my flaps were in the inlet manifold and 1 bar was very close to getting sucked in to the engine.

Check the rear subframe bushes which should will manifest itself to a knocking from the rear end on the test driver when you go over bumps.
